Nella mia stanza il mondo è al di là della mia capacità di capire;
ma quando cammino vedo che consiste di tre o quattro colline e una nuvola.

Dal mio balcone scruto l’aria gialla,
leggo ciò che ho scritto:
“La primavera è una bella che si sveste”.

L’albero d’oro è blu.
Il cantante s’è alzato il mantello sul capo.
La luna è nelle pieghe del mantello.

I
In my room, the world is beyond my understanding;
But when I walk I see that it consists of three or four hills and a cloud.

From my balcony, I survey the yellow air,
Reading what I have written,
“The spring is like a belle undressing.”
III
The gold tree is blue.
The singer has pulled his cloak over his head.
The moon is in the folds of the cloak.
